Sheet yield calculator

Yield is part area ÷ (sheet area × sheet count). It ignores kerf and leftover shapes.

Parts

Yield
62.8%
Part area
3.74 m²
Sheet area used
5.95 m²

This is area division only — a theoretical minimum. Kerf, grain, rotation and leftover rectangles usually need more sheets. Calculate the actual layout in the planner.

Utilization vs nest

A 70% area yield can still need another sheet if doors are all the same size and do not tile cleanly with kerf.

Why the real count is higher

Kerf removes a strip on every cut. Parts may not rotate. Leftover rectangles can be too small to use. Area division is a theoretical minimum, not a cutting plan.

Worked example

Six 497 × 713 doors and four 560 × 720 ends on two 2440 × 1220 sheets. Read the yield, then nest to see real leftover.

Questions

Should I buy fewer sheets if yield is low?

Low yield means leftover area, not that you can drop a sheet. Nest first, then decide.
