What this covers
This policy explains what CutPilot collects when you use the website, the planner, and a saved-account library, and what we do with it. It applies to this site and any other CutPilot site that links here.
Who we are
CutPilot is a web cutting-plan optimiser. The service is operated under the name CutPilot. For privacy questions, write to cutpilotapp@proton.me.
What we collect
You can generate a cutting plan without creating an account. In that case the sheet sizes, parts, settings, and last plan stay in this browser until you clear them.
If you create an account or sign in, we also keep:
- Account details: email address, and a hashed password if you sign up with email. We do not store your password in a readable form.
- Google sign-in: if you continue with Google, Google shares the email and basic profile needed to open the account.
- Saved projects: project name, units, currency, blade width, sheet stock, part lists, and the generated cutting plan, plus created and updated times. Plans on an account are private to that account.
- Billing: if you subscribe, Stripe processes the payment and stores the card or other payment method. We keep Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, subscription status, and the email used at checkout so we can unlock your plan and handle support.
If you send feedback through the site, we receive the message and any email you choose to include.
We also collect usage data: pages you visit, buttons you use in the planner, device and browser information, and approximate location derived from IP address. When session recording is on, we record how you move through the product. Form fields are masked in those recordings. When Google Ads measurement is enabled, Google also receives page and successful plan-generation events so we can measure whether advertising leads to use of the planner.
How we use it
We use this information to:
- run the planner and keep signed-in projects available to you
- authenticate you and keep the session signed in
- answer feedback and support mail
- understand which parts of CutPilot people use, fix problems, and decide what to build next
We do not sell your information, and we do not show ads.
Where it lives
Account and saved-project data are stored with Supabase in London (eu-west-2). Usage analytics and session recordings are processed by PostHog, which is hosted in the United States. Google processes sign-in if you choose that option and advertising conversion data when Google Ads measurement is enabled. Stripe processes payments if you subscribe.
Those processors only see what they need to provide their service to us. They are not free to use your cutting plans for their own products.
Cookies and local storage
Signed-in sessions use cookies so you stay logged in as you move between pages. The planner also writes the current cut list to this browser’s local storage so a refresh does not wipe unsaved work. A short-lived session value is used when a save is waiting on Google sign-in. After checkout, a signed cookie records that this browser has unlocked the plan until you create an account. A country code is stored so we can default prices to pounds in the UK and dollars in the United States.
Analytics cookies and similar storage are used by PostHog to recognise returning visits. Google Ads may also use cookies or similar storage to attribute a successful plan generation to an advert. You can block cookies or clear site data in the browser; the planner will then start empty and you will need to sign in again.
How long we keep it
Saved projects stay until you delete them or ask us to delete the account. Session cookies last for the signed-in session. Browser drafts stay until you clear them or the browser expires them. Analytics events and recordings are kept only as long as we need them to run and improve the product.
Your rights
You can open, rename, or delete a saved plan from the projects library. You can sign out at any time. There is not yet an in-product control to delete the whole account.
Email cutpilotapp@proton.me to ask for a copy of the data we hold, to correct it, or to delete your account and saved plans. Say which email you used to sign in. We will handle the request as soon as we reasonably can.
If you are in the UK or EEA you may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK that is the ICO.
Children
CutPilot is built for workshops and makers. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the effective date on this page. Continued use after that date is acceptance of the revised policy.
