Plywood cut calculator

Plywood has a face grain. Parts start with rotation off so the grain stays the way you entered it.

Parts

Grain direction

Rotation is off so a door entered as 497 × 720 stays that way. Turn rotation on only if the face grain can run either direction.

Veneer matching

Book-matched faces are not sequenced automatically. If two doors must share a grain run, keep them the same orientation and check the printed plan before you cut.

Worked example

A small cupboard: two doors, two sides and three shelves on 18 mm plywood, grain fixed. Generate the nest to see leftover strips along the 2440 edge.

Questions

Why can’t I rotate plywood parts?

You can — tick “turn to fit” on a row. The default is off because face grain usually matters.

Does this work for birch and hardwood plywood?

Yes. The sheet name is only a label. Change thickness in the name if you want it on the plan.
